Hughie’s Pub
Review
Hughie’s Pub in the charming village of Corcaghan, Co. Monaghan, is the kind of place every village wishes it had. Originally owned by Hughie, Steve’s grandfather, this nearly a hundred year old pub has long been a much-loved local institution and now visitors are quickly discovering its appeal too. Today it’s in the safe hands of Steve and Emma McElvaney, with Steve proudly representing the third generation behind the bar. Inside, you’ll find cosy nooks, quirky corners and a warm, easy-going atmosphere, with monthly trad sessions and regular live music keeping the place buzzing. Food’s deliberately simple: superb pizzas from their own Pizza Bar and “Dirty Thursdays” for meat lovers, with friendly, down-to-earth staff. I loved my visit here and I’m certain you will too.
