Review

The Keg Bar in Clonmany is a wonderful example of how a much-loved village pub can be brought back to life. Formerly known as Briney’s Bar, it has undergone an impressive transformation, proudly returning to its original name, The Keg. The food offering is refreshingly simple and perfectly suited to the relaxed surroundings. Breakfast is a highlight, while the coffee shop at the pub’s main entrance is ideal for lunch, serving light bites, waffles, scooped ice cream and an excellent cup of coffee. Add to that a superb traditional bar, a welcoming beer garden and a friendly atmosphere, and you have somewhere that feels instantly familiar. At The Keg, strangers really are just friends you have not met yet, and everyone receives a warm welcome.

The Wild Atlantic Adventure Centre is one of the newest and most exciting additions to Co. Donegal’s activity scene and that’s exactly why I chose to include it in my latest book. This family-run venture, led by the Devlin family, is all about teamwork, energy and adventure.

Doagh Famine Village 1

Doagh Famine Village

Doagh Famine Village, near Ballyliffin in Inishowen, is without doubt one of Donegal’s most memorable attractions. When I first visited in 2025, I was completely taken aback by just how powerful and engaging the experience was. Returning again in 2026, I found it even better.

Wild Alpaca Way

Wild Alpaca Way

Wild Alpaca Way is one of those rare experiences that stays with you long after you’ve left the hillside. Set high above the Inishowen Peninsula, with the Knockamany Bens rolling behind you and Malin Head and the vast Atlantic ahead, every step feels like walking through a living postcard.

From the moment I arrived at Inishowen House, close to Ballyliffin, I could see why it is such a brilliant choice for families and groups.
