Wild Alpaca Way
Review
Wild Alpaca Way is one of those rare experiences that stays with you long after you’ve left the hillside. Set high above the Inishowen Peninsula, with the Knockamany Bens rolling behind you and Malin Head and the vast Atlantic ahead, every step feels like walking through a living postcard. This is a genuinely family-run attraction and it shows in the warmth of the welcome. I had the privilege of trekking with owner John McGonagle, who runs this attraction with his three sons. His easy humour and deep knowledge of the area adds so much to the journey. The alpacas themselves are wonderfully calm, clearly used to human company and, dare I say, seem to enjoy the adventure as well. It’s little wonder Wild Alpaca Way has become one of Co. Donegal’s most talked-about attractions. Book ahead, take your camera, and prepare for one of Ireland’s most truly uplifting coastal walks.
