Skerries Mills
Review
“… like a wheel within a wheel, never ending or beginning on an ever spinning reel, as the images unwind, like the circles that you find, in the windmills of your mind.” A. Bergman/M. Bergman/M. Legrand.
Skerries Mills makes a wonderfully harmonious day out for all the family, consisting of an extraordinary collection of two windmills and a watermill, with associated mill pond, mill races and wetlands. As one of Dublin's most popular tourist attractions, and industrial heritage centres: the guided tours are excellent, offering visitors the opportunity to get to know and understand the background to this lovely hidden jewel. Only 30 km north of Dublin’s city centre, Skerries skyline is adorned with windmills and fits the bill perfectly when it comes to captivating coastal towns. The story of stone ground milling in Skerries can be dated back to the early 16th Century, and having got to know all about windmills, grinding stones, sieves, shakers and blowers, take a welcome break in the Watermill Cafe, and enjoy a freshly baked scone with something delicious to drink.
