Wrights Anglers Rest
Review
Wrights Anglers Rest, sitting on the edge of Dublin’s iconic Phoenix Park, is the kind of place that instantly captures the imagination. This is no ordinary pub; it is a near 200 year old treasure where history seems to cling lovingly to every wall, beam and corner. Originally built as a hotel, it carries a fascinating past, with Michael Collins himself said to have met his spies here between 1919 and 1922. That alone gives this place an atmosphere few pubs could ever hope to match. For owner Michael Wright, taking custodianship of such a historic establishment was clearly about far more than just business; it was about pride, heritage and preserving a small but important part of Dublin’s story. Its coveted Iconic Pub status is richly deserved. Add in hearty, well priced dishes from a talented kitchen team, and the Anglers Rest becomes a wonderfully memorable place to visit!
