Review
You wouldn’t normally think to put the words Steam Railway and Ireland in the same sentence, but if you thought that, you would be hugely mistaken. Currently, there are 5 working steam railways operating in Ireland, along with 3 Railway Museums. Even though they’re all fantastic, one of my personal favourites is the Waterford Suir Valley Railway here in Co. Waterford. Operating on the old Waterford to Dungarven line, this Railway really does do what it says on the tin. This Railway also runs alongside at one point, the famous Mount Congreve, whose gardens are absolutely stunning. Made up mainly of volunteers, this Railway is not only professionally run by people who care just as much about their visitors as they do the Railway. The facilities here are second to none and I didn’t find the ticket price too extortionate either! Once visited, never forgotten, I really love this place!
