Review

Sunday Street is Drogheda’s newest buzz, two personalities under one roof. By day, the coffee bar hums with energy: expertly pulled espressos and lattes and trays of still-warm bakes crafted onsite that very morning. The vibe crackles, more Manhattan loft than small Irish town, making it an easy habit to form. Swing next door and the mood shifts to a polished American diner where the “no-expense-spared” brief shows in the plush booths, slick lines and plates that deliver comfort with flair. Completing the picture are a dozen or so modern, light-filled bedrooms: crisp linens, smart touches and the kind of quiet that resets you for tomorrow. It’s a superb base for the Boyne Valley, with Dublin and Belfast both an easy hop in either direction.

Boann Distillery

As I drove up to this striking, glass-and-steel landmark on the outskirts of Drogheda, I’ll admit I was taken aback. Ireland is awash with distilleries nowadays, but Boann genuinely stopped me in my tracks, this is somewhere different. This is a proud family affair, and the Cooneys
