Funtasia Theme Park
Review
Funtasia Theme Park in Drogheda delivers nonstop family fun with the polish of a well-run classic. Since 1990, Bernard & Tara McCormick, along with their family, have been entertaining visitors from across Ireland and beyond; on the back of their Bettystown success, this Drogheda flagship has been delighting guests since 2007. As I moved through this hidden-gem attraction, I was struck by how slick, clever, and innovative everything feels. From the way ticket awards are dispensed to the rides and games themselves keeping energies high and smiles wide. Plan an entire day here: dive into the water park, switch to weather-proof indoor favourites, then tackle the intrepid Skyclimb assault course. Staff are upbeat and very friendly, operations are smooth, and the variety means all ages are covered. In my view, Funtasia ranks among the best entertainment complexes of its kind anywhere in Ireland or the UK, consistently exciting, welcoming, and memorable.

Scholars Townhouse remains a standout in historic Drogheda and I’m delighted to endorse it for a second time in my Top 100 Attractions on the Island of Ireland book. Still lovingly family-run, it’s even better than on my first visit. Housed in the former Christian Brothers School

Fitzpatricks Bar & Restaurant in Jenkinstown is so much more than a country pub; it’s a true Irish experience, which is why I’ve upgraded it in my Top 100 Attractions on the Island of Ireland book to one of my “Iconic Pubs of Ireland”. Set on the beautiful Cooley Peninsula,

Wrights Anglers Rest, sitting on the edge of Dublin’s iconic Phoenix Park, is the kind of place that instantly captures the imagination. This is no ordinary pub; it is a near 200 year old treasure where history seems to cling lovingly to every wall, beam and corner. Originally built as a hotel, i

In the pretty maritime village of Howth, The Bloody Stream is the sort of pub that leaves a lasting impression from the moment you walk through the door. Owned and run by Michael Wright, a man with a proven pedigree in hospitality, this is a place where high standards are clearly non-negotiable.
