Beaulieu Historic House & Gardens

Attractions

This location is very special in so many ways. Dating back to the 1600's, it still belongs to the same family. Nestled in a beautiful part of County Louth, visitors come from the world to explore this amazing destination. The walled garden is such a magical area and the whole building is believed to have been designed by a Dutch Architect. It can be so romantic to take a walk in the 1.5 hectares of this land. The guided tours are fantastic! The tour guides are super friendly and welcoming. You will get to visit the house and hear about all of the secret stories from this incredible location throughout the years. The interior is rather extraordinary. When entering, you will come across a grand staircase and a cosy drawing room. From there, you can go onto the terrace which boasts some breathtaking panoramic views over the River Boyne. The hallway also has some fabulous log fires and the best bit is that if you would like to hire this place for your special day, it is possible! The team will install a marquis on the lawn and create a magical atmosphere for all visitors and guests to remember.

Review

This book is full of some of Ireland's biggest attractions, some will you heard of already, like the famous Jameson's Distillery, the Dramatic Cliffs of Moher not forgetting Belfast's Amazing Titanic Museum. However Ireland also prides itself on its huge number of hidden gem attractions. We have awarded Beaulieu Historic House & Gardens our coveted historical importance gem. I did this simply because Beaulieu has history seeping out of every brick and acre of this fascinating place. The tour guide that took me around had me in awe from the minute he opened his mouth, till the minute my tour ended, and the fact that I didn't want the tour to end, is a true testament to how amazing this house is. As Beaulieu is still a lived in family home, to save disappointment, I would suggest booking in advance rather than just calling in. But a trip to the Boyne valley is not complete without a visit to the wonderful Beaulieu.
