Mount Congreve Gardens & Country Estate
Review
It’s no secret that Waterford is Ireland’s oldest city, and with that pedigree comes a historic treasure chest of days out. At Mount Congreve Gardens & Country Estate, heritage isn’t just a buzzword, it’s woven into the place. The elegant house, built in the 1760s by renowned local architect John Roberts, has been home to the Congreve family for over six generations, and after a huge renovation project, it now looks as magnificent as ever. While the gardens and wider estate are the real stars, the recent restoration has added a brilliant new layer and for the first time, visitors can step inside the house and appreciate its grandeur up close. This is the third time Mount Congreve has earned a place in my Island of Ireland book, and it’s easy to see why. Each visit reveals fresh improvements, richer experiences, and more reasons to linger, you won’t want to leave!
