Review

Midland Escape is definitely Top 100 Attractions go-to recommendation for large-group wellness and team-building in Ireland’s heartlands. Built for groups of 20 or more, their customised experiences suit everything from a few families travelling together to corporate away-days, sports clubs, or teams needing a proper reset and a stronger bond. Owner Willie Hyland has an enviable knack for shaping an itinerary around your group’s energy, ability levels, and goals, then delivering it with calm confidence and real flair. Activities such as Laser Clay Shooting, Axe Throwing and Archery are only the starting point; the menu of challenges and bonding exercises is broad, well-run, and genuinely effective. What impressed me most was the professional, safety-first approach, without losing the fun or the sense of occasion. If you can imagine it, Willie can make it happen. It’s purposeful, polished, and genuinely good fun. Perfect for memorable, morale-boosting days you’ll repeat and recommend.

WELLNESS CENTRE

Set across a few peaceful acres of Irish countryside, Midland Wellness Retreat is the kind of hideaway that makes you exhale the moment you arrive, from the first minute. Built around Nordic-style facilities, it invites you to reset properly: begin with an invigorating ice plunge, drift into the sweltering sauna, then sink into the hot tub and let the outside world fade away. This is the Irish Midlands at its most restorative, a serene sanctuary where wellbeing isn’t a buzzword, it’s the whole purpose. Whether you’re escaping a busy schedule, recharging after a long week, or simply craving quiet, the retreat creates space to slow down and reconnect. Expect calm views, fresh air, and a gentle rhythm that encourages mindfulness, better sleep, and clearer thinking. Once you’re here, there really isn’t any reason to go anywhere. Leave feeling lighter in body, steadier in mind, and ready for whatever comes next.

JJ Killeen’s

On the banks of the River Shannon in the ever-popular village of Shannonbridge, JJ Killeen’s has roared back to life. After a few years closed, it’s now under the stewardship of Liam Fallon, who has spared no expense renovating this gem into one of Ireland’s most iconic Irish pubs.
