Longford Arms Hotel
Review
There is something wonderfully reassuring about a hotel that has stood at the heart of its town for generations, and the Longford Arms Hotel carries that sense of history beautifully. Originally built in 1807 and once known as the Principal Inn, it has been welcoming travellers, locals and generations of families through its doors for more than two centuries. Today, the Reynolds family continue that tradition, with Orla carefully guiding the hotel through its latest chapter. The bedrooms are comfortable, thoughtfully furnished and offer exactly the sort of peaceful retreat you want after a day exploring the region. Downstairs, the restaurant has built an excellent reputation of its own, drawing diners from well beyond Longford, while the hotel’s traditional ballroom remains a wonderful reminder of countless celebrations held here over the years. Add attentive hospitality, generous food and ample parking and I know you’re going to be in a safe pair of hands.

Midland Karting
If you fancy injecting a little speed and excitement into your day, Midland Karting is an attraction well worth putting on your itinerary. Family owned and operated, this popular karting venue combines genuine thrills with a strong emphasis on safety and excellent customer care.

Lough Ree Distillery
There are some places you include in a book because they are good, and others because they have a story that simply deserves to be told. Lough Ree Distillery falls firmly into both. Set beside the River Shannon in Lanesborough, this wonderfully compact operation is, as I like to call it, the biggest small distillery

Roscommon Equestrian Centre
Sitting at the foot of the magnificent Slieve Bawn Mountain, close to the River Shannon, the Roscommon Equestrian Centre enjoys a setting that immediately makes an impression. Family owned and proudly run by the Kelly family, there is a warmth here that gives the centre a wonderfully personal feel.
