Deebert House Hotel
Review
Deebert House Hotel is one of those rare, family-owned places here in Co. Limerick that quietly exceeds expectations, and it’s exactly why I’m delighted to endorse it for this the second time. This was my first overnight stay here, and it confirmed why guests return again and again. From arrival, owner Margaret and her friendly, experienced team made me feel instantly at home. My room was spotless, cosy and quiet, and the mattress delivered the kind of deep, uninterrupted sleep you normally only find in top-tier hotels. Morning brought a freshly cooked breakfast, full of flavour and beautifully presented, with real care behind every detail. It’s a base for exploring, or simply switching off in comfort. A true hidden gem, and one I’ll happily recommend.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Dining at Deebert House Hotel is reason enough to stop in County Limerick. Family owned and run, the restaurant has an intimate feel that instantly puts you at ease. In the Cloister Bar & Grill, my green curry hit every note: fragrant, gently spiced, and packed with juicy king prawns, served with rice cooked perfectly. Dessert was a berry pavlova, crisp outside, soft within, and utterly moreish. The atmosphere stayed calm and welcoming, and I genuinely felt at home. Service is attentive without fuss, and every bite shows care, quality, and consistency. Better still, you don’t need to be staying overnight to enjoy it, walk-ins and passers-by are welcomed warmly, but I would advise booking ahead. If you’re exploring the county, this is absolutely perfect!

Lazy Dog Shooting Grounds
Tucked away in the heart of Co. Limerick, the Lazy Dog Shooting Ground is a hidden gem, framed by breath-taking scenery and quiet woodland. I don’t feature many shooting centres in my books, mainly because standards can vary wildly, but this one truly sets the bar.

Lough Gur Visitor Centre
The Heritage Centre at Lough Gur was re opened in June 2013 after extensive refurbishment. The Centre now boasts a 5 star state of the art facility and has most notably received the Trip Advisor

Coolwater Garden
Coolwater Garden is a small marvel just outside Limerick, shaped with care by Kevin Begley and his wife, Claire. Visitors come from far and wide for good reason. It’s only half an acre, yet nothing is wasted: paths knit together rock beds, water, and pockets of planting that reward a slow look.
