Review

Blennerville Windmill & Visitor Centre returns to my Top 100 Attractions for good reason. Standing sentinel at the edge of Tralee Bay, Ireland’s largest and only working windmill is the real deal, a living machine whose creaking timbers and sweeping sails make history tangible. You can wander at your own pace, but to feel the story in full, I highly recommend taking the fully guided tour: from grain to flour, from the engineering of the cap and gears to the human graft that kept communities fed. Knowledgeable guides bring the craft alive, and watching the sails catch the Atlantic breeze is moving. Exhibits are well laid out, friendly staff are proud ambassadors, and the entrance fee won’t break the bank. Pay the couple of euros extra for the tour; the insight and access are worth every cent. Moments later, you’ll step outside to skies and views you won’t quickly forget.
