Whistlestop Valley
Review
Formerly known as the Kirklees Light Railway, Whistlestop Valley has grown into one of West Yorkshire’s most enjoyable hidden gems. Yes, the railway remains the star attraction, and rightly so, but this place offers so much more besides. From the giant bouncing pillow and the miniature Clayton Flyer, to pedal cars, crazy golf and the ever popular play space known as The Cabin, there is no shortage of ways to keep younger visitors smiling. What impressed me most is that this is not just a place for children to let off steam, because the grown-ups clearly get just as much enjoyment from the day. The Turntable Dessert Parlour is another winning touch and a sure fire favourite with families looking to round off their visit with something sweet. Better still, in a time when family days out can be costly, Whistlestop Valley delivers genuine fun without demanding a fortune from visitors.
