Three Castle Head
Review
With the Atlantic booming below and the cliffs catching the last of the light, Three Castle Head really does feel like the sort of place couples come to disappear for a while. The drive up to the house is wonderfully scenic, and Lukas and Joanne make you feel instantly at ease, as if you’ve arrived somewhere you’re meant to be. There are three very different ways to stay, each with its own charm. The Loft is a snug, two-bedroom self-catering space created from a barn, gazing out across the family farm to those wild ocean views. The Tack Room is the romantic star: a sweet one-bedroom bolthole fashioned from the old tack room, perfect for slow mornings and long evenings. For privacy, the Hideaway sits around a mile away, sleek and peaceful, with the sea on one side and Dunlough Castle keeping watch on the other, pure West Cork romance.

As a travel journalist, I take just as much pride in uncovering hidden gems, and Bantry Bay Golf Club is a shining example of one. Set amid some of County Cork’s most breathtaking scenery, this course delivers spectacular views at every turn, with not a single vantage point failing to impress.
