Perched perfectly in the charming coastal village of Baltimore, The Algiers is a gastrobar that leaves a lasting impression. Having travelled extensively throughout this county, I can safely say this is one of West Cork’s most exciting food stops. The owners clearly take enormous pride in their menu, and that dedication shines through in every dish. Alongside beloved Irish favourites, there is a welcome Californian influence that adds flair, freshness and real character to the offering. It is thoughtful cooking, confidently delivered. Baltimore itself is warm, friendly and full of the hospitality Cork is famous for, and The Algiers fits perfectly into that picture. Trading for well over 130 years, it feels authentic, special and completely timeless indeed. Be warned, miss it at your peril.
