The Wye Valley Hotel

Review
Once warmly endorsed in our guidebook, the Wye Valley Hotel in Tintern has sadly fallen from grace. I contacted Barry & Sue, the owners, to arrange a revisitation and update my review, something I’ve done thousands of times over the past 15 years with all of the businesses I’ve previously endorsed. What I received in return was the most appalling display of rudeness I’ve ever encountered. Barry the current owner, spoke to me with utter contempt, as if my previous support and endorsement meant nothing. He abruptly announced his retirement before slamming the phone down. If this is how he treats longstanding supporters, one can only imagine how paying guests might be received. Standards here have clearly slipped beyond redemption, and I strongly recommend giving this place the widest of berths. Retirement may be the kindest thing he could do, for the reputation of Welsh hospitality. Shame on him!
