Wyndcliffe Court Gardens
Review
Wyndcliffe Court Gardens are nothing short of enchanting. Having featured them previously during the era of the sculpture gardens, it’s an absolute joy to see these historic gardens restored to their former glory. So beautiful are they, you’d be forgiven for thinking Capability Brown himself had a hand in their design, though in truth, Wyndcliffe’s charm lies in its Italianate Arts & Crafts style, perfectly executed and lovingly maintained. Every pathway, planting, and viewpoint has been thoughtfully considered, offering visitors a timeless escape from the modern world. Now under the expert custodianship of Sarah Clay and her husband, these gardens are thriving once more. Their care and vision are evident in every corner, and it’s clear the gardens are in incredibly safe hands. A visit to Wyndcliffe is a must for anyone who appreciates horticultural artistry, serenity, and a genuine sense of place. This is Welsh garden heritage at its finest.

The Wye Valley Hotel
Once warmly endorsed in our guidebook, the Wye Valley Hotel in Tintern has sadly fallen from grace. I contacted Barry & Sue, the owners, to arrange a revisitation and update my review, something I’ve done thousands of times over the past 15 years with all of the businesses I’ve previously endorsed.
