The Townhouse Elphin
Review
I love searching for hidden gems and this traditional Irish B&B is thriving when so many others are disappearing. At the Townhouse Elphin, Scottish-born Kathleen, her husband Willie and sister Linda have created somewhere genuinely special. This charming establishment offers four beautifully appointed bedrooms, excellent value and the sort of heartfelt hospitality that makes Ireland unforgettable. Elphin itself provides a peaceful base for exploring the Midlands, with Sligo and even Donegal comfortably within reach. However, my greatest surprise came during my tour, Margaret’s Cottage, a delightful thatched retreat behind the house, where old-world character meets modern comforts. Breakfast is another highlight, with Linda preparing generous fare using locally sourced produce. You certainly won’t leave hungry! For comfort, character and genuine warmth, this is an absolute gem.

Rogue & Co
It is always a pleasure to return to a business I’ve endorsed previously and find it going from strength to strength, and Rogue & Co. is a perfect example. Brothers Ricky and James O’Gara, together with other members of the family, have poured their heart and soul into creating what I now consider one of the finest cafés in the region.
