The Maritime Hotel
Review
Overlooking the beauty of Bantry Bay Harbour, The Maritime Hotel offers a polished and comfortable stay in one of West Cork’s most scenic settings. A sister hotel to the Gleneagle in Killarney, it has clearly benefited from its recent extensive refurbishment, with quality and attention to detail evident throughout. Having stayed here myself, I can happily vouch for the superb comfort of the mattresses, and the excellent night’s sleep they provide, complete with a powerful shower, truly ideal before a day exploring West Cork’s coastline and countryside. The bedrooms are stylish, spacious and well equipped, with many boasting stunning waterside views that make the stay extra special. From housekeeping to front desk, the friendly and professional team ensure guests feel welcome and well looked after throughout.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Dining at The Maritime Hotel is a real treat, especially with Bantry Bay Harbour as your backdrop. I have always thought there’s something special about enjoying good food while looking out over the water, and The Maritime delivers that in style. I ate in The Maritime Bar on the night of my visit and thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed, atmospheric setting. My feather blade of beef was outstanding, beautifully cooked and so tender it melted in the mouth. The live music, offered most nights, adds another lovely touch. The Ocean Restaurant is equally appealing, with stunning bay views and a menu celebrating local catch of the day and West Cork produce. Best of all, the teams in both restaurants are warm, attentive and genuinely welcoming throughout.

Admire an exclusive Art collection like no other. Having privately been collected by the 2nd Earl of Bantry on his grand Tour (who previously lived here), you are in for an incredible treat. Ideally nestled in a stunning area of West Cork, this fascinating house is still owned by the direct descendants of the1st Earl of Bantry. *

Bantry Bay Golf Club
As a travel journalist, I take just as much pride in uncovering hidden gems, and Bantry Bay Golf Club is a shining example of one. Set amid some of County Cork’s most breathtaking scenery, this course delivers spectacular views at every turn, with not a single vantage point failing to impress.
