The Lakes Distillery is Cumbria’s only distillery producing the Lakes Gin, the Lakes Vodka, the ONE (a British Isles blended whisky) and what will become our signature spirit, the Lakes Malt (first bottle due in 2018). Opened in December 2014, The Lakes Distillery is housed in a beautiful restored Victorian cattle farm, with handmade copper stills and an award-winning on-site Bistro. As one of the ‘best new distilleries in the world’ (Time Out, New York), The Lakes Distillery offers a first class visitors centre with whisky tours & tutored tastings alongside a superb selection of hand-crafted spirits. The Lakes Distillery is a driving force behind a revolution of ‘new world’ whisky distilleries. As an English distillery based in the heart of the Lake District, our contemporary family of brands have to speak for themselves. The Lake District has been evolving for centuries, most of it naturally, but the life blood that makes the area even more special are the brave and bold people who have created some truly amazing businesses here and one of those brave and bold I speak of is Paul Currie. Bold because business isn’t easy to start in a new area and brave because those who hold a claim to the worlds best whiskies are usually the Scottish and the Irish. You can learn all about his and the distilleries journey by taking a tour. Whilst on your tour, you’ll get to see first hand all the hard work that goes into making the Whisky that even has the Scottish talking. Then when you’re done, you’ll find yourself in the tasting room, but don’t worry, if your not a drinker, there is a soft drink there waiting for you.
