The Junction Gastrobar & Guesthouse
Review
The Junction Gastrobar & Guesthouse is a brilliantly practical base in the heart of Limerick Junction, sitting right opposite one of Ireland’s busiest railway junctions. For travellers who like to keep moving, the location is ideal, placing Tipperary, Limerick, Waterford and Cork all within easy reach, whether you’re touring by car or hopping on the train. The guest rooms are honest and reassuringly cosy, offering everything you need for a comfortable night without the price tag that so often comes with convenience. It’s the kind of place that suits couples, solo explorers and stopover guests equally well. Better still, you’ve an award-winning Gastrobar downstairs, where traditional favourites are served with modern flair, perfect after a day on the road. I can’t recommend this place enough!
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
The food offering at the Junction Gastrobar & Guesthouse is exactly what you hope to find when you hear the words “award winning” and then some. This is a place run with real pride, and it shows in every plate that leaves the kitchen. Owner MJ Buckley isn’t just a name above the door; on the day of my visit he was in the kitchen himself, a rare sight these days and a clear sign that standards matter here. With a master butcher background, MJ understands provenance inside out, and that attention to quality most certainly runs through the entire menu. Just as impressive is the atmosphere on the floor, a 40-strong experienced team who feel genuinely valued, and daily deliver a warm, professional service.

Lazy Dog Shooting Grounds
Tucked away in the heart of Co. Limerick, the Lazy Dog Shooting Ground is a hidden gem, framed by breath-taking scenery and quiet woodland. I don’t feature many shooting centres in my books, mainly because standards can vary wildly, but this one truly sets the bar.
