Review

The Gun Lodge is based within the pretty village of Ardersier and is owned by the very experienced Sheena Fleming. All rooms within the property are traditionally appointed and at a reasonable price it has to be said and you’ll not be disappointed with your choice. The hotel also has a well sized car park and the facilities are really good here. Being a hotel with such a good reputation comes with a lot or pressure, yet the owner and her team, seems to do it with the greatest of ease. With over 30 years of cheffing experience, Sheena really has got a handle on her kitchen, even though in later years she has taken a back seat role in the kitchen, her presence is still very much felt in there and her staff know how passionate she is about making sure the food is freshly prepared and cooked and presented to a very high standard.

Cawdor Castle is an imposing late fourteenth-century edifice; a place of legends and tales, with vaulted ceilings and a drawbridge that stirs the historian in each of us.
