Woodbridge is one of Suffolk’s prettiest and significant towns, and right at its heart stands The Historic Bull Inn, a true landmark of warmth, character and timeless hospitality. Dating back at least to the 16th century, this remarkable inn has welcomed weary travellers for generations, yet under Sarah and David Clarke, who took over in 2019, it has entered a wonderful new chapter. Their refurbishment has been carried out with real care, creating bedrooms that feel elegant, comfortable and beautifully considered. There is a quiet romance to staying here, surrounded by history, thoughtful design and the gentle rhythm of this lovely market town. The food is excellent, the team are friendly without being intrusive, and the atmosphere feels effortlessly special. With a past that has welcomed prime ministers, stars of stage and screen and historic figures to boot, The Bull Inn remains hugely popular, so booking ahead is certainly wise.
