Mondello Park Racing Circuit

Attractions

Mondello Park is the only FIA Licenced Motor Racing circuit in the Republic of Ireland and was opened in 1968. Prior to the opening of the circuit all racing in Ireland had taken place on closed public roads but with safety becoming a big issue the days of the street circuit were numbered and with the demise of the last track at Dunboyne a permanent circuit was badly required.

The original 1.28km (0.8 mile) layout lasted for just one year before the track was extended to 1.6km (1.2 miles) for the start of the 1969 season. Mondello Park currently uses two circuit options for Race Events, the National rack and the International Track. We also have a separate Rallycross layout and other track formats which are used for our Driving Experiences and Track Days.

Review

I am not a fan of football, rugby or any of your conventional sports, but motor racing is something that not only am I interested in, I absolutely adore watching live. The sound of the engines roaring, the smell of burning rubber, and the fumes of fuel in the air really do make the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end! Mondello Park, located in Co. Kildare is the only motor racing circuit in Ireland and with FIA status, the circuit plays host to a multitude of racing events throughout the racing calendar. Both motorbikes and cars race here, however on the day that I was here, it was the turn of Super Cars to take to the circuit, and what I later found out was that you can actually take part in your own racing experience, wether it be a Formula styled Single Seater Racing Car, or a drive in a Porsche Boxster you can experience the thrills and spills of life on the Tarmac.
