In Ireland’s oldest city, it flips tired notions about “the dogs” on their head: lively bars, swift service, and a fizzing buzz the moment the hare moves. With racing every Saturday night, planning is effortless, and the whole experience feels polished yet unmistakably local. Operated by Greyhound Racing Ireland, welfare sits front and centre, with care continuing long after retirement, unlike other human athletes. Their food offering surprises also. The Kilcohan Restaurant sends out plates far beyond the pale, freshness and flavour keep pace with the action. Staff are friendly, professional, and truly on the ball, keeping the evening flowing from the first race to the last. For atmosphere, comfort, and value in equal measure, Kilcohan is a quintessential Irish night out, but with a difference.
