Glen Tavern
Review
Step inside the Glen Tavern and you feel the heritage oozing from every brick. Trading since 1911 in a townhouse dating to the 1760s, this family-run pub is now in the assured hands of Gerry Callanan, a seasoned host who keeps standards rooted in genuine Irish hospitality. The kitchen cooks with confidence: crisp fish in feather-light batter, slow braises that hum with depth, and brown bread you’ll remember. Portions are fair, prices sane, and service has that Limerick mix of warmth and pace. Specials read like a promise and usually deliver; even the everyday soup is carefully seasoned. There’s live music too, check their site or socials for listings, but food is the headliner. Provenance matters here, and so does consistency. It’s no surprise we endorsed the Glen Tavern in Top 100 Attractions five years ago and earlier; returning now confirms what locals already know: this place is the real deal.
