Gill’s Courtyard Accommodation
Review
Gill’s Courtyard Accommodation in Crossmolina blends old-world character with modern comfort. Once an Irish pub, its bones still whisper hospitality, now translated into a handful of beautifully designed rooms finished with care and intention. I stayed overnight and slept like a stone, quiet, cosy, and exactly what a weary traveller needs. Outside, Crossmolina hums with friendly energy; the River Deel slips by, and the town’s top-notch GAA pride is palpable. Anglers will be spoiled for choice, while everyone else has a superb base for exploring Mayo’s attractions, north and south. From shopkeepers to passers-by, the welcomes felt genuine and easy. Expect thoughtful touches, good value, and hosts who look after you as if you are family. A charming stay that lingers long after you leave.

Foxford Woollen Mill is a perennial favourite in my Top 100 Attractions on the Island of Ireland book, and with good reason, I’ve endorsed it twice already. Established in 1892, this Mayo icon has delivered craftsmanship and innovation for over 130 years, never standing still while others tread water.

The Old Post Office Coffee Shop
Smack in the heart of Crossmolina, The Old Post Office delivers the kind of feel-good food that matches the town’s famously warm welcome. Recommended to me by Gill’s Courtyard Accommodation, also endorsed in this chapter, it’s the definitive breakfast stop.
