Foxford
Review
Foxford Woollen Mill is a perennial favourite in my Top 100 Attractions on the Island of Ireland book, and with good reason, I’ve endorsed it twice already. Established in 1892, this Mayo icon has delivered craftsmanship and innovation for over 130 years, never standing still while others tread water. The visitor centre is steeped in history and style, charting the mill’s story with warmth and clarity. Visit their excellent coffee shop for top-notch food and a breather among cosy textiles. The retail spaces showcase impeccable throws, scarves and gifts, each piece reflecting hallmark quality; it’s easy to lose track of time here. Can’t make it to Foxford in person? Their stylish, easy-to-use website mirrors the in-store experience, with a slick online shop that makes ordering a pleasure. Most of all, the team are unfailingly friendly and helpful. Foxford continues to set the standard, highly, highly recommended, for visitors to Mayo.
