Eating Out

Review

Smack in the heart of Crossmolina, The Old Post Office delivers the kind of feel-good food that matches the town’s famously warm welcome. Recommended to me by Gill’s Courtyard Accommodation, also endorsed in this chapter, it’s the definitive breakfast stop. An onsite bakery powers the menu and, first thing, the air hums with the aroma of fresh loaves, pastries, and possibility; it’s nourishment for the soul before you’ve taken a bite. Plates arrive generous and well-priced, with excellent coffee, and bakes that travel straight from oven to counter. Come lunchtime or late afternoon, the standard stays high and you’ll find yourself plotting a swift return. With three levels of seating, you’ll rarely struggle for a table. Owners are unfailingly friendly and go above and beyond.
