Four Seasons Hotel & Leisure Club
Review
Opened back in 1970, the Four Seasons Hotel in Coolshanagh, Co. Monaghan, is a shining example of why I champion privately owned accommodation. Family-run for over half a century, it balances genuine Irish warmth with the standards today’s travellers expect. The almost 60 guest rooms feel smart and modern, with a comforting home-away-from-home ease that makes switching off effortless after a day exploring. Everything is geared for comfort: crisp bedding, generous space, and those small thoughtful touches that signal pride of ownership throughout every corridor and room. The staff are genuinely friendly and attentive without ever being intrusive, and the central Midlands location makes it an ideal base for touring Monaghan and some of the counties beyond. A dependable, well-run stay I’m happy to recommend.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Dining at the Four Seasons Hotel really is a treat in its own right, and you don’t have to be an overnight guest to enjoy it. With a choice of dining spaces, every visit feels like a little occasion. The heart of the food offering is the popular Still Bar & Restaurant, where the menu is perfectly balanced, easy to browse, yet packed with tempting options. Expect comforting traditional favourites alongside a few modern creations, plus seasonal specials that keep things fresh and exciting. There’s a real pride here too, from the kitchen team to the owners, with provenance and quality clearly taken seriously. If you’re craving great food with a view, the Terrace is a winner, offering open-air dining with heaters for cooler days.
