Fairfax House
Review
This historical masterpiece that is now a museum was designed by the architect John Carr and is one of the best examples of a Georgian townhouse in York. It is in the heart of York itself, and was the winter home of Viscount Fairfax and his daughter, Anne. It provides us with a walk through the world as it existed there in the 18th Century. Committed and enthusiastic staff are available throughout the house to give you a factually comprehensive tour of all the rooms. This is a proper insight into the period, embellished with tales of the time, furniture, paintings, artefacts and interesting facts! Fairfax House is a cultural treat that must be part of your itinerary when visiting the historically rich town of York. Watch their website and Facebook pages to keep track of upcoming exhibitions and events.
