Esquire & Raglan Road
Review
The Esquire in Tramore is one of those rare venues that feels woven into the fabric of a town. First opened back in 1932 by local businessman Jim Quinn as a true gentleman’s bar, it has evolved into one of Co. Waterford’s most loved places to dine. Since taking over in 1980, chef Paul Horan has turned The Esquire into something special, and what impressed me most is, fast forwarding to 2026, Paul is still right where you want him to be… in the kitchen. There’s a confidence to the food here that only comes with decades of experience, and local provenance sits at the heart of everything this restaurant serves. If you want a meal you’ll still be talking about tomorrow, this is the definitely the one.
Raglan Road
Raglan Road in Tramore is an award winning Irish pub with a difference, and it’s easy to see why it sits proudly alongside some of Waterford’s most popular places to eat. From the moment I stepped inside again, I felt like I’d walked back into a living museum, with artefacts and quirky touches around every corner. Take a stroll through the bar and you’ll spot something new each time you visit, from old bicycles hanging from the ceiling, to striking works of art that give the place its unmistakably unique character. Owner Paul Horan has been here for almost 50 years, and when you meet him you’d never guess he’s spent over six decades as a chef. Raglan Road is a true Tramore Irish experience.
