Brockhole-Lake District Visitor Centre
Be wild and try something new, soar through the sky on a treetopadventure, or splash out on the water. Take in the beauty of our awesome mountain views, taste the best of local food and ale. Brockhole, the Lake District Visitor Centre on the shores of Windermere is the ultimate start.
Brave the Cave at Brockhole
Your mission will start with a team briefing at the cave entrance as you get kitted up with a helmet and head torch, ready to take on the challenge. Cavers will be set a series of increasingly difficult challenges within the cave each time they enter, ranging from finding ancient cave paintings, to retrieving hidden creepy creatures, to navigating the cave in complete darkness. Badges will be awarded to all who succeed and Brave the Cave!
Our caving experience is suitable for all adventurers aged 5+ and under 8s must be accompanied by an adult (who can book on and join if they wish!)
Adventure Playground
Our brand new adventure playground focuses on family fun and features a wide range of equipment suitable for toddlers right through to teenagers. The amazing new toddler area even features a Play Galleon boat as a central point. If you remember the old playground boat you are in for a real treat with this brand new creation!
For older children we have included a bespoke ‘Mountain Tower' which has been specifically designed for us. There are actually nine towers in total, including a four floor hexagonal tower.
With its blend of green hues and natural timbers, it could not be more in keeping with our surroundings. We have worked with local company Playdale Playgrounds on this exciting redevelopment and can't wait for our visitors to come and enjoy everything the new area has to offer.
Mini Golf
Our 9 hole mini golf course is perfect for a proper competition with family and friends. Down by the beautiful Windermere lakeshore, you can't beat the view!
Archery
Come and have a go at the ancient sport of archery, located on the stunning shoreline of Windermere, England's largest lake!
Pony Rides
Enjoy gentle pony rides around our beautiful grounds with Bigland Hall Equestrian. It's the perfect introduction to pony riding for all the family - our led pony rides are suitable for anyone from age 2 to 70 years old!
Review
Throughout all of our books we have featured a small number of visitor centres, reasons for this are simply because visitor centres normally just do what they say on the tin, they're just centres for visitors to find information about the local areas they are in. But, there are a few that do a lot more than that! Brockholes here in the Lake District is one of those visitor centres that literally has that many strings to its bow, I cannot, in a 150 words tell you about them all, only to say that wherever I turned, there was something else to occupy not only our younger members of the family but adults also. A full day is needed at Brockholes, maybe even two if you are to sample everything on offer here. All in all I loved it here and I know you will to! So what are you waiting for?
