Tullynally Castle & Gardens
Review
The magnificent parkland of Tullynally Castle Gardens, is surrounded by the emerald green hills, and silvery lakes of North County Westmeath. Dating from the early 1800s’, these beautiful gardens have been lovingly, and creatively enhanced by present owners: Thomas and Valerie Pakenham. There are over 12 acres of garden, divided between walled gardens, expansive woodlands and two ornamental lakes. Tullynally Castle itself is a large Gothic structure, that makes a dramatic silhouette against the ancient woodlands and acres of blue and white skies. You can find out the fascinating history behind this sublime Castle and Garden, with a Guided Tour of the Castle which weaves a rich tapestry of scandal and stories of life both above and below stairs . Plenty for little ones to see and do following an extra special Children’s Discovery Trail, leading through the vast and serene gardens. Finish with a rest and refreshments in the gorgeous courtyard tearooms.
