The Tannin Level
The Tannin Level is a fine dining restaurant located in Harrogate and is named for the famous wines that it has become synonymous with since its establishment in 1985. This makes it one of only three restaurants in the area that have stood the test of time. This well-loved restaurant sports a team of chefs that is passionate about delivering locally-sourced, seasonally inspired dishes. Everything on the plate is about being the best of what Yorkshire has to offer; the best ingredients available, the best dishes, the best service. While the food is ‘Yorkshire on a plate’, this restaurant has refined the execution of the homely dishes that we associate with this area to bring you a meal that is next-level and with what they call ‘a twist’. There is a lot to choose from in the freshly prepared line up; whether from the Light Lunch, Pre-Theatre menus or their legendary Early Bird, to the full a la Carte experience. The setting is spread over three beautiful dining rooms on the ground floor of a Victorian mansion and is as elegant as the food is.
Review
We often mention in our reviews that the food in many restaurants is locally-sourced. Some of our elite restaurants take this extremely seriously, and The Tannin Level is one of those; hence it is important to follow their website to watch out for the exciting new changes that each season brings. This restaurant is capable of 90 covers – so apart from being ideal for a romantic dinner for two, it also has the capacity to cater for large dinner parties. The menu is as varied as it is delectable. We feel we need to make special mention of the pan-roasted Yorkshire lamb rump served with garlic & thyme croquette. It is eye-wateringly sublime, flavoursome and tender. Vegetarians do not have to miss out either with so much to choose from; including the roasted root vegetable Wellington. Yorkshire’s finest produce beautifully respected and plated with reverence.
