The Saxon Inn in Escomb
Review
Personally speaking, I wish there was a Saxon Inn in every town I visit, life would be infinitely better for it! This 18th-century country inn, overlooking the villages ancient Saxon church and framed by rolling hills, is the very picture of rural charm. It captures everything that’s wonderful about English hospitality: warmth, comfort and heart. The story behind it is as genuine as the welcome, John Modrate and his son Paul Hope poured their souls into creating something special and now his daughter Claire carries that legacy beautifully. Once a teacher, she was clearly destined to run a pub of her own. The food is simply superb, using locally sourced produce from around the local area and draws diners from far and wide, while the nine bedrooms are tastefully furnished and full of character and charm. A stay here won’t cost the earth either, but it will leave you richer in spirit.
