The Royal Oak
Royal Oak is situated in the tranquil village of Kings Bromley, Staffordshire. The building dates from the 17th Century keeping its original features in the dining area and contemporary feel to the extended bar.We have a great beer garden ideal for the family to enjoy a drink or taste some of the freshly made daily specials. We now have a stonebaked pizza oven, serving freshly made pizza's using our own dough and our own fresh tomato sauce.
Review
The Royal Oak in Kings Bromley like many of the restaurants featured in our books and on this website was recommended to us by one of our accommodation providers also located here in this quintessential English Village. Upon arriving I could see for a start why it was referred to us, the place was starting to get busy and everyone in very high spirits, exactly what you'd want and expect from a lovely country pub such as this. I spotted on their cleverly put together menu, a Smoked Salmon & Lime Creme Freche dish. Being one of my favourite starters along with Grilled Goats Cheese, I desided to order it with gusto the Smoked Salmon. My starter promptly arrived on a charming wooden board which makes a refreshing change to the usual plates that starters normally arrive on.
With being in a beautiful English village I wanted a main that reminded me of our famous British countryside, Lamb Rump was my choice upon arrival it was cooked to near perfection, on many occasions and in many restaurants at least one of the vegetables wouldn't be up to scratch, and would more often than not be left behind on the dish they would arrived on! However on this dish all three of my veg were cooked to near perfection and were devoured with absolute joy! I have featured two other Royal Oaks in my Welsh book, but here at this Royal Oak in Kings Bromley, I wont forget in a hurry. I found the staff to not only be polite and courteous, but they seemed to genuinely care about whether or not you enjoyed your food, a big plus in my books.
On the whole, the owner at this fine pub certainly knows exactly what he's doing and what he expects a pub of this kind to be. Although it takes a lot more than good food to be a success nowadays, I feel this pub is in very safe hands with both this owner and his great team, and I can't wait to return to try that Grilled Goats Cheese!
