National Forest Llama Trekking
At National Forest Llama Treks we have eight male llamas, ranging from the youngest pair Barak O'llama and Dave to the oldest Moses. All the boys have very individual characters, which will keep you entertained throughout one of our fantastic experiences.
What better way to explore the beautiful countryside of the national forest than with a llama? Llamas make excellent hiking companions, they are friendly inqisitive and gentle animals. You've just got to llove a llama.
The trek begins at our centre (NB this is on A38 N) where you will find out all about our llovely llamas, you will also have the opportunity to groom them, (our boys like to look smart before they go out) and hand feed them, a guaranteed new friend for life. Then it's off to the trek site, approximately 10 minutes drive away, for a relaxing walk with the llamas. We make the experience as interesting and fun as possible, teaching you lots of llama facts, a little about the local history, and with our fully guided nature walks, you will find out all about the local flora and fauna hopefully before the boys eat it, they are fully paid up members of the hedgerow cafe.
We then return to the centre for a luxurious 3 course buffet style picnic including homemade cakes in our beautiful, hand-crafted turf-roofed building. A full menu is available on request.
At National Forest Llama Treks, we have recently won a gold nutrition award for our food. We also have a 5 star rating on our kitchen. If you have any special dietary requirements, ie vegan or vegetarian you are in safe hands as we are too.
NB Due to new environmental health regulations we are no longer able to carry the picnic on the llamas.
Review
On the day that visited this attraction, being taken by surprise really is an understatement. Anna Otton, the owner of the National Forest Llama Treks, really does run a very professional outfit from her Staffordshire location and together with her 8 rather friendly male Llamas, each one with their own individual names. The facilities themselves were of the very highest standards and complete with hand washing facilities, hygiene is one of the many things Anna herself takes very seriously. I found the rates charged here excellent value for money and having witnessed an excited family arriving on the day I was there, everyone seemed very happy indeed. I also felt a great sense of education is included within a visit to this attraction and Anna herself likes to educate all of her visitors about all aspects of a Llamas life, where they're from and all about their little unusual quirks.
