The Old Bakehouse Restaurant
Review
The Old Bakehouse Restaurant in Miltown Malbay is proof that great food and genuine warmth are the perfect duet. Just across from the Willie Clancy statue, this cosy dining room hums with locals who clearly know a good thing. Owners Eddie and Irene have quietly created one of Co. Clare’s most talked-about restaurants, and a meal here explains why. My fish curry was a revelation: generously packed with gleaming pieces of fish, the kitchen happily softening the spice when I hinted I didn’t like anything too spicy, without losing depth or flavour. It tasted like the Atlantic captured on a plate. Service is super friendly and instinctive, the kind where staff remember small details and put you instantly at ease. There’s a homely, fireside comfort to this place that feels distinctly Irish, the kind of room where “home is where the heart is” isn’t a slogan, it’s reality, truly special.
