The Little Crown Inn has been a meeting place for the Wainfelin and Pontnewynydd communities for as far back as the locals can remember! Back in the day, the pub was located on the site of the old drift mine, The Elled Level and was actually 2 separate buildings, three stories high (what is today our cellar, was the ground level first floor; it was filled in when the railway was demolished and the ground was built up to create the current industrial estate in front of the pub). The ground floor was occupied by businesses (only one 93 year old local can remember one of these being the wages office for the local forge when he was a young child!), whilst the upper floors were believed to be either accommodation or offices for the Elled Level.Some years later the buildings became a Public House, however no one really remembers when… What started off as a small, traditional inn, serving nothing but good beer and pickled eggs, has grown into the thriving bar, restaurant and accommodation that it is today!Each of our 5 en-suite rooms has been uniquely designed to offer our guests homely comforts combined with modern amenities. With solid oak furniture and 100% cotton bedding, the rooms are luxurious, comfortable and stylish.

Each room has been named after a local colliery and is decorated with pictures and stories of its namesake, creating a special and thought-provoking experience for our guests.

Our accommodation prices are room only, and include all linen, house keeping, free Wi-Fi throughout the building and free parking.

Breakfast is available for a supplement and can be ordered upon arrival. We offer a continental breakfast including cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt, juice, tea and coffee, alongside a hot breakfast menu which includes a full Welsh/English breakfast and vegetarian options.At The Little Crown Inn & Restaurant we pride ourselves not only on the quality of our fresh, locally sourced, home cooked food, but also on our excellent service, whether you join us for a quick bite to eat or that special occasion…

Our menu is extensive as we like to be sure that everyone can find something that they'll really love to eat … And as our food is all freshly prepared and cooked to order, feel free to let us know of any changes you'd like to make and we'll do our best to cater for them!

Our restaurant can seat a maximum of 50 people, and we have an additional function room that can seat a further 24 people. For buffet style functions we can cater for more, please see our functions page for further information.

Throughout the week we run various special offers, including our popular Early Bird Menu that's served from 12pm - 6pm, Monday to Saturday. Meals start from just £5.00 and are perfect for those who just want a light lunch or an early dinner on a budget! Monday - Thursday from 6pm we have various “theme” nights where you can try new dishes or some of our classic favourites for a discounted rate! Throughout the week our main menu is available from 12pm - 9pm, with the exception of Sunday lunch.
