There is something wonderfully honest about The Fountain Hotel in the Nottinghamshire village of Tuxford. Independently owned, this is exactly the kind of village pub I love to champion: full of character, genuinely welcoming and refreshingly good value. At the heart of it all is owner-chef Damien Geslin, known affectionately as “Frenchie”, who brings a touch of his native France to the kitchen while giving the menu a broader European influence. Quality ingredients and carefully sourced produce are central to his cooking, and the rave reviews his food receives are thoroughly deserved. Beyond the dining room, The Fountain offers five cosy, comfortable bedrooms, making it an ideal stop for anyone exploring this part of Nottinghamshire. Best of all, a stay here remains sensibly priced, something Damien clearly takes pride in. Good food, comfortable rooms and independent spirit make The Fountain Hotel a village pub well worth seeking out and enjoying.
