The Bay Tree Restaurant
Review
Tucked above the much-loved Bay Tree Restaurant here in Carlingford, these six guest rooms came as a very pleasant surprise. Each one is cosy, comfortable and thoughtfully named after local history and legends, adding a real sense of place to your stay. You’re getting all the qualities of a top-notch boutique hotel, but with no pretentiousness and at a fraction of city prices, which makes a night here feel like exceptional value. Owner–chef Conor Woods has clearly spared no expense in creating rooms that people genuinely love returning to. And with Conor working his magic in the kitchen downstairs, you don’t have far to go for an excellent meal either. It’s easy to understand why many people are so keen to recommend the Bay Tree.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Co. Louth really is famous for its Oysters and here at the Bay Tree Restaurant, you get to experience first hand just exactly why. After countless recommendations, it took just one visit to understand why Conor Woods inspires such loyalty from not only regulars, but strangers also. His cooking is full of character, flavour and finesse, with every plate clearly crafted with pride. Whether you choose a sparkling fresh seafood or fish dish, or opt for one of his seasonal meat options, you’re in very safe hands. The menu feels generous, thoughtful and exciting without ever being fussy. Portions are satisfying, presentation is elegant and the flavours linger long after you leave. It’s no surprise locals treasure this place. Highly recommended for all food lovers.
