St Hilda’s Complex
Review
St Hilda’s Complex is the kind of east-coast hideaway in North Yorkshire that turns a weekend into a love story. Under new ownership, the renovations are thoughtful and thorough, no corners cut, no charm lost. Tucked away in the peaceful countryside yet close to villages of Runswick Bay and Staithes, it’s perfectly placed for windswept beach walks, gallery pottering, and pub suppers. I visit every accommodation I endorse, and this one truly hits the mark: rooms with plush beds and indulgent bathrooms, calm interiors, and those quiet touches that show someone cares. Staff are warm without fuss, happy to share local tips or simply leave you to the birdsong. Mornings begin unhurried; evenings end with skies the colour of rose quartz. Luxury comes as standard here, but it never shouts. Before you’ve packed the car, you’ll find yourself checking dates, already planning the next escape back to this beautifully renewed retreat.
