Review
I stayed at this hotel as I was doing my research for the Gloucestershire & The Cotswolds section of this book. I didn't originally intend on featuring the hotel as one of our sleep tights as I had in my mind the 12 hotels that I wanted to feature. That was of course until I stayed a few nights here. The staff had no clue that I was a travel journalist and the author of these books as I checked in. I asked if it was possible to have a nice room, as the room rates were very reasonable I wasn't too sure what kind of room this was going to be? I was totally taken by surprise when I put the key into the door and the room was almost a mini suite. The bed was a huge four poster bed and the bathroom was amazing.
I later did some investigating and found out that the hotel had just undergone a new refurbishment and as I wandered around the hotel that became more apparent the further I got. For a hotel that offers rooms at a very reasonable rate you wouldn't actually expect to get rooms to this standard. I have to say on the whole this hotel is perfectly located within the city of Gloucester and an ideal base with which to explore the Cotswolds. The breakfast is more than enough to see you through the day and the staff really do go that extra mile to ensure your stay is not only a comfortable one but one that will make you want to return. They also give you a voucher for the NCP car park only a few hundred yards away from the hotel which allows you to park at a fraction of the cost of what you would normally pay.
The hotels wifi is really fast which to someone like me is really important, however to some people a good nights sleep would be more important, which I can hand on heart say that I had a really comfortable nights sleep and despite being smack bang in the middle of a city together with them having their own bar downstairs, I didn't get disturbed once. The chef does a great evening meal menu also which I found great value for money. A big thumbs up from me and all of the team here at Top 100 Attractions.
