Nancy’s Barn
Review
Nancy’s Barn in Ballyliffin is one of those places I had heard about long before I finally walked through the door. Recommended by so many people, I simply had to experience it for myself, and I quickly understood the enthusiasm. This charming seaside café has built an extraordinary reputation, drawing visitors from across Donegal and far beyond, not least for its award-winning, world-famous chowder. Owner and accomplished chef Kieran Doherty, together with his team, has created something special here. There is a wonderful sense of local pride running through the menu, with provenance treated seriously and every dish prepared with confidence and care. Add to that the fascinating stories, strong community connection and warm, relaxed atmosphere, and Nancy’s Barn becomes far more than somewhere to eat. Its long list of awards is thoroughly deserved. For me, this is one of Donegal’s finest cafés, and possibly one of Ireland’s very best.

Wild Alpaca Way
Wild Alpaca Way is one of those rare experiences that stays with you long after you’ve left the hillside. Set high above the Inishowen Peninsula, with the Knockamany Bens rolling behind you and Malin Head and the vast Atlantic ahead, every step feels like walking through a living postcard.
