Review

Tucked away in the heart of the Burren, the Michael Cusack Heritage Centre is a must-visit for anyone curious about the soul of Irish sport and identity. Just a short drive from both Lisdoonvarna and Ballyvaughan, this evocative homestead tells the story of the man behind the birth of the GAA. Wander through the engaging heritage centre, step into Michael’s lovingly preserved family home and pause at the striking statue of the mythical An Púca creature. Along the way, excellent interpretive displays bring history, politics and place to life in a way that feels both intimate and accessible. The team here are genuinely warm, welcoming and impressively knowledgeable, happy to answer questions and share local stories. With its beautiful rural setting and modest admission, this is an experience that offers outstanding value for money. Allow extra time; you may find yourself reluctant to leave here, I know I certainly was.
