Merchant Adventurers Hall
Review
The exquisite ancient Merchant Adventurers Hall in the City of York is a simply breathtaking timber-framed medieval edifice with vast, magnificent halls and stained-glass windows.
The Hall comprises the Great Hall, where the merchants of old gathered to discuss and do business and have their banquets; the Undercroft, where the indigent and ill received care; and the Chapel, where one could to this very day go for spiritual solace.
Visit the Hall to learn of this intriguing, exceptionally restored building, its 650-year-old history, the Guild, now known as “the Company”, and its charitable work as well as view its collection of antiquities.
You may desire to host a large or small special event in this spectacular, extremely elegant Grade I listed venue that is perfect for receptions.
Or treat yourself to a delectable breakfast, tea and cake or lunch at the Merchants’ Coffee House to extend the enchanting experience of a visit to the Merchant Adventurers Hall.
