Review

McKernans is a shining example of craft, creativity and sheer determination. From their base in Tuamgraney, Anke & Eugene McKernan, are an Irish/German partnership that first met in Dublin, have quietly placed this East Clare village on the global map. Since 1985 they have honed their skills, designing and producing exquisite, truly unique woven and knitted scarves in a rich palette of natural fibres and colours. This family-run destination now supplies beautiful, ethically produced pieces to boutiques across Ireland, mainland Europe and the USA. Visit today and you’ll discover a slick, well–run operation with a stylish new café, inspiring visitor centre and fascinating tours that reveal the stories behind the looms. Meet Anke, Eugene, their talented team and of course, not forgetting Cosmo the dog, and you’ll quickly understand the magic here, leaving with a scarf, or perhaps several, that you simply can’t resist. I really do love this place!
